Ras-related protein Rab-3C (RAB3C) is a small GTPase of the Rab family, involved in the regulation of intracellular vesicular trafficking and controlled exocytosis of vesicles, particularly in secretory pathways. It is highly conserved and expressed in tissues such as the brain, placenta, and lung. Rab3C is essential for recycling receptors and phagocytosed molecules (such as MHC class I) to the cell surface and facilitates antigen cross-presentation within dendritic cells. In cancer, especially colorectal cancer, Rab3C overexpression is linked to increased exocytosis, chemoresistance, and poor prognosis. Its role in vesicle formation and trafficking puts it at the crossroad of fundamental cellular processes and clinically relevant disease mechanisms, marking it as a molecular target of interest for cancer and possibly for immune modulation.
Modulation of vesicular exocytosis, leading to altered drug sensitivity/resistance in cancer cells (e.g., targeting the Rab3C–dystrophin axis and influencing PI3KCA signaling; reversal of chemoresistance via CB2 agonists). Enhanced vesicle formation and packaging, which impacts drug response.
