Ras-related protein Rab-41 (RAB41) is a small GTP-binding protein in the Rab VI subfamily of the Ras superfamily[1][2][7][10]. It acts as a molecular switch, cycling between active (GTP-bound) and inactive (GDP-bound) states to regulate intracellular membrane trafficking, particularly in maintaining the structural integrity and organization of the Golgi apparatus[1][2][4][5]. RAB41 is essential for normal Golgi ribbon structure and for ER-to-Golgi vesicle trafficking, as its depletion leads to fragmentation of the Golgi and defects in cellular transport pathways[2][4][5]. RAB41 has been experimentally shown to interact with proteins involved in vesicle transport, such as dynactin 6 and syntaxin 8, which are important for its role in Golgi maintenance[4]. There are no well-established drugs targeting RAB41, nor is it considered a therapeutic target, but its dysfunction has been implicated in rare diseases such as microvillus inclusion disease[1][2].
