Ras-related protein Rab-9B (RAB9B) is a small GTP-binding protein belonging to the RAS oncogene family and functions as a key regulator of intracellular membrane trafficking, particularly mediating retrograde transport from late endosomes to the trans-Golgi network. Like other Rab proteins, RAB9B acts as a molecular switch cycling between active (GTP-bound) and inactive (GDP-bound) forms, regulating the selection of cargo and vesicle formation for proper protein sorting. It is predicted to be active at late endosomes, the Golgi apparatus, and associated membranes, and is involved in protein transport and trafficking processes crucial for cellular homeostasis[1][6][8].
