The **RBAK-RBAKDN readthrough** is a predicted fusion transcript resulting from the transcriptional readthrough between the *RB-associated KRAB zinc finger protein* (*RBAK*, also known as ZNF769) gene and the adjacent *RBAK divergent neighbor* (*RBAKDN*, also known as LOC389458)[1][3]. Such readthrough events can create extended proteins with additional functional domains or regulatory motifs, but for RBAK-RBAKDN, the biological function, protein product, and disease relevance are not established. The canonical RBAK protein is a KRAB-domain containing zinc finger transcription factor implicated in cell proliferation and interaction with the retinoblastoma (RB) tumor suppressor[3]; the fusion's role as a therapeutic target is not described, and there are no drugs or biomarkers currently linked to it. The classification "readthrough" or "fusion transcript" is neither a receptor, transporter, nor a well-characterized enzyme.
