Overview

RBBP4 pseudogene 4 (RBBP4P4) is a non-coding pseudogene related by sequence to the RBBP4 gene, which encodes retinoblastoma-binding protein 4. Unlike the parent RBBP4 gene—an evolutionarily conserved histone-binding and chromatin remodeling protein with well-characterized roles in cell cycle regulation, epigenetic modification, and cancer—the pseudogene RBBP4P4 does not encode a functional protein and has no described biological function, therapeutic relevance, or disease association. Pseudogenes such as RBBP4P4 may sometimes be transcribed but lack the capacity for translation into active protein. Thus, RBBP4P4 is not a therapeutic target, and entries referring to it as such are incorrect.
