Overview

RBBP8 N-terminal like (gene symbol: RBBP8NL) encodes a protein with homology to the N-terminal region of the RBBP8/CtIP protein, but its biological function is not currently characterized in humans. Its closest paralog, RBBP8 (CtIP), is a well-studied endonuclease and regulator of DNA repair, cell cycle checkpoints, and cancer susceptibility, but there is no evidence that RBBP8NL fulfills similar roles or is considered a therapeutic target. Most databases simply annotate RBBP8NL as a protein coding gene with limited functional data, and it is not documented as a receptor, enzyme, or known drug target[1][3][5][9][10]. RBBP8NL should not be confused with RBBP8 (CtIP), which is a critical DNA repair enzyme and has extensive literature on its roles in cancer biology and as a potential drug target[2][4][6][8][12]. Almost all functional data, biological associations, and disease roles pertain to RBBP8, not RBBP8NL. There is no evidence that RBBP8NL is a validated drug target or biomarker, and no available data on drugs, biomarkers, or mechanisms of action applying specifically to RBBP8NL.
