RBMX pseudogene 4 (RBMXP4) is a processed pseudogene derived from the RNA binding motif protein X-linked (RBMX) gene, found on chromosome 4 (and other chromosomes for other pseudogene copies)[1]. Unlike RBMX, it does not encode a functional protein and does not participate directly in biological pathways, receptor signaling, enzyme activity, or other molecular target roles. Pseudogenes like RBMXP4 may exert subtle regulatory effects at the RNA level, such as acting as competitive endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) or microRNA decoys, but there is no evidence RBMXP4 is functionally relevant in disease or as a therapeutic target[3]. The canonical RBMX gene encodes a protein involved in RNA binding, alternative splicing, DNA repair, cell division, and tumor suppression[1][2][4], but RBMXP4 itself is non-functional and not considered a valid molecular drug target.
