Overview

RBX1 pseudogene 2 (RBX1P2) is a non-coding genomic sequence with high similarity to the RBX1 gene, located on a different chromosome. Pseudogenes like RBX1P2 do not encode functional proteins but may regulate gene expression of their parental gene via competition for RNA binding proteins or by acting as RNA decoys[4]. There is no evidence of RBX1P2 having a direct biological, therapeutic, or disease role, nor being a canonical biomarker or drug target. The parental gene, RBX1 (Ring-box protein 1), is an essential core subunit of multi-protein E3 ubiquitin ligase complexes (such as SCF), and plays crucial roles in protein ubiquitination, cell cycle progression, cancer proliferation, and prognosis[1][2][6].
