RCC1 and BTB domain-containing protein 2 (RCBTB2) is a human protein encoded by the RCBTB2 gene located on chromosome 13. The N-terminal half of RCBTB2 shares similarity to RCC1, a known guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) for the Ras-related GTPase Ran. RCBTB2 also contains two C-terminal BTB/POZ domains, which are implicated in protein-protein interactions. While its detailed biological and molecular role is not fully elucidated, it is classified within the RCC1-related GEF family and is thought to participate in mitotic chromosome condensation. Some research suggests a role as a potential tumor suppressor, linked to deletion or mutation in various cancers, but its status as a definitive therapeutic target or biomarker is yet to be established[1][6][8].
