Overview
RCCD1 and UNC45A antisense RNA 1 (RCCD1-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed in the antisense orientation at the RCCD1 and UNC45A locus. While antisense RNAs in general are recognized for their roles in regulating gene expression through mechanisms such as transcriptional interference, epigenetic modulation, and modulation of splicing, there is currently no direct evidence that RCCD1-AS1 itself serves as a therapeutic target or is involved in well-defined biological processes or diseases. Its precise function remains uncharacterized in the literature, but, as with similar lncRNAs, it may impact the expression of its neighboring protein-coding genes or act through RNA–chromatin interactions.
