RDM1 pseudogene 3 (RDM1P3)

Target
RDM1P3
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Non-coding RNA
01

Overview

RDM1 pseudogene 3 (RDM1P3) is a human pseudogene highly homologous to the *RDM1* gene, which encodes a protein involved in DNA recombination and repair[2]. Unlike its parent gene, RDM1P3 does not encode a functional protein and has not been implicated in any canonical biological processes or disease mechanisms. While some pseudogenes have regulatory roles in gene expression or act as miRNA sponges, there is no reported biological function, clinical role, or pharmacological relevance for RDM1P3. Generally, pseudogenes like RDM1P3 are considered genomic "fossils" unless shown to exert regulatory effects[1][3].

Biological functions

Competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs), serving as decoys for microRNAs that would otherwise target parental genesGene regulation (if transcribed)
03

Disease associations

None known for RDM1P3. Some pseudogenes influence cancer biology when functioning as ceRNAs, but no such data exist for RDM1P3.
