RDX pseudogene 3 (RDXP3) is a **pseudogene** corresponding in sequence to the functional radixin (RDX) gene but does not produce a functional protein product[7]. Like other pseudogenes, RDXP3 is considered a non-functional remnant of a gene that arose through duplication or retrotransposition and subsequently lost its protein-coding ability through mutation or truncation[8]. There is currently no evidence that RDXP3 is involved in any disease processes or acts as a therapeutic target. The radixin gene, to which it is related, encodes a cytoskeletal protein important for linking actin to the plasma membrane[1][3][5], but the pseudogene itself does not share these functions. Key useful distinctions: - RDXP3 is not the same as RDX; only RDX codes for a functional protein[5]. - Pseudogenes, by definition, are not conventional therapeutic targets. - Unless otherwise reported in specialized literature, RDXP3 has no known role in disease, biomarker use, or as a drug target. RDXP3, however, does not share these biological functions.
