Overview
The receptor binding domain (RBD) is a critical region within the spike (S) glycoprotein of SARS-CoV-2. It enables attachment to the host cell by binding to its primary receptor, angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2). This interaction triggers conformational changes essential for viral entry and is the main target for neutralizing antibodies and vaccines.
