Efmoroctocog alfa (Eloctate) is a recombinant, B-domain-deleted coagulation factor VIII Fc fusion protein, produced using recombinant DNA technology. It is used as a therapeutic agent for control, prevention, and routine prophylaxis of bleeding episodes in adults and children with hemophilia A, a genetic disorder marked by deficient activity of endogenous factor VIII. Eloctate works by supplementing the missing factor VIII, allowing normal coagulation. It does not act on a receptor or regulatory pathway by binding; instead, its clinical efficacy derives from direct protein replacement.
