Recombinant Factor VIIa (rFVIIa) is a genetically engineered form of activated human coagulation factor VII. It promotes hemostasis by activating factor X, leading to thrombin and fibrin generation, bypassing deficiencies or inhibitors against factors VIII or IX. It is used primarily in hemophilia patients with inhibitors, congenital factor VII deficiency, and, in some cases, Glanzmann's thrombasthenia. Off-label uses include severe bleeding situations like trauma or postpartum hemorrhage.
