Red blood cell (RBC) metabolic pathways refer to the network of biochemical reactions that occur within erythrocytes, enabling them to fulfill their primary function: oxygen transport. Key pathways include glycolysis, the pentose phosphate pathway, the Rapoport–Luebering shunt, and redox metabolism.
