Overview

"Reducing swelling" is not a specific molecular target, but rather a therapeutic outcome or physiological process involving the resolution of edema and inflammation in tissues. Swelling, or edema, is characterized by the accumulation of excess fluid in the interstitial space, often resulting from increased vascular permeability or impaired lymphatic drainage during an inflammatory response (StatPearls, "Edema", 2023). Because "reducing swelling" is a clinical indication rather than a protein or gene, it encompasses a wide range of pharmacological classes and molecular pathways aimed at restoring fluid balance and tissue homeostasis.
