Reeler domain-containing protein 1 (REELD1)

Target
REELD1
Molecular classification
Other (contains a reeler domain; predicted membrane protein)
01

Overview

Reeler domain-containing protein 1 is a protein encoded by the REELD1 gene; it contains a reeler domain characterized by its presence in extracellular matrix proteins such as reelin, which is important in neural development in mammals. The protein is predicted to have a membrane localization and is expressed with low tissue specificity in humans. There is little experimental information on its physiological role in humans. Reeler domain proteins from other species, such as crustaceans and insects, have been shown to participate in innate immunity, microbiota homeostasis, and neuronal cell positioning during development, but these roles have not been confirmed for REELD1 in humans. No interacting drugs, disease associations, or biomarker status are currently documented for this target.
