Overview

Regeneration of osseous tissue refers to the biological process by which new bone is formed to replace damaged, lost, or defective bone. Molecular pathways like BMP/Smad, Hedgehog, and Wnt play central roles in orchestrating cell differentiation, matrix production, and mineralization. Therapeutic strategies target these pathways to enhance bone healing, often using biomolecules, recombinant proteins, and delivery systems to promote osseous regeneration in conditions such as fractures, bone defects, and degenerative bone diseases. However, the process is complex, with risks of side effects such as ectopic bone formation or inflammation.
