Overview

Regulation of nuclear pre-mRNA domain containing 1B (RPRD1B), also known as Cell cycle related and expression elevated protein in tumor (CREPT), is a protein that plays a critical role in regulating the transcription of genes involved in the cell cycle. It is frequently overexpressed in various human cancers, where it promotes cell proliferation and tumor growth by enhancing the transcriptional activity of RNA polymerase II and activating the Wnt/beta-catenin signaling pathway (Source: PubMed, PMID: 22396531). RPRD1B specifically facilitates the transcription of oncogenes such as cyclin D1, thereby accelerating the G1 to S phase transition (Source: UniProt, Q9NQW6). Due to its significant upregulation in malignant tissues compared to normal tissues, it is considered a promising therapeutic target and a potential diagnostic biomarker for several types of adenocarcinoma. While specific small-molecule inhibitors are currently in the early stages of research, experimental knockdown of RPRD1B has been shown to inhibit tumor progression and induce apoptosis in preclinical models (Source: NIH, PMC4546475). Targeting this protein offers a strategy to disrupt the aberrant transcriptional programs that drive oncogenesis.
