Overview

Regulation of nuclear pre-mRNA domain-containing protein 1A (RPRD1A) is a protein encoded by the RPRD1A gene in humans. It functions as a cell-cycle and transcription regulatory protein, interacting with the cell cycle inhibitor cyclin-dependent kinase 4 inhibitor B and possibly acting as a negative regulator of the G1/S phase progression. RPRD1A forms both homo- and heterodimers, particularly with RPRD1B, to act as a scaffold protein for the C-terminal domain (CTD) of RNA polymerase II, playing a crucial role in transcription regulation and possibly in the dephosphorylation of the CTD via RPAP2. It is localized to the nucleus and is a component of the transcription preinitiation complex. RPRD1A is implicated in diverse biological pathways including gene expression and RNA splicing regulation, and may have a functional role in cancers. There are currently no known approved therapeutic drugs directly targeting RPRD1A, and robust clinical biomarkers or established safety concerns related to its inhibition have not been described[1][2][3][4][5][7][8].
