Target intelligence / Profile preview
"Regulation of qi flow" is a core concept in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), referring to the management of the body's vital energy ("qi") as it moves through channels called meridians. TCM holds that health depends on the smooth, balanced circulation of qi, and that blockages or imbalances lead to illness. Interventions such as acupuncture, Qigong, Tai Chi, and herbal medicines are believed, within TCM, to help regulate qi flow for health and disease prevention[1][2][3][5]. However, "qi" is a conceptual entity: there is no evidence that it represents a discrete molecular entity, receptor, or pathway. Modern biomedical science does not recognize "qi flow regulation" as a molecule, drug target, or measurable biological process[2][4][5]. As such, it should not be described as a druggable or molecular target, and returning it as a therapeutic target is incorrect.
