Regulator of chromosome condensation 2 pseudogene 8 (RCC2P8) is a human pseudogene located on chromosome 4. Pseudogenes are segments of DNA that resemble genes but generally lack the ability to encode functional proteins due to accumulated mutations or loss of regulatory elements. While some pseudogenes—through noncoding RNA—can regulate parent genes or participate in RNA-mediated gene regulation, there are currently no specific data or evidence for RCC2P8 having such activity. Pseudogenes may contribute to biological complexity and transcript diversity, but RCC2P8 is not known to function as a receptor, enzyme, or otherwise actionable therapeutic drug target[2][1].
