The **release of paracrine factors** is a biological process in which cells secrete signaling molecules (such as growth factors, cytokines, and small peptides) into the local extracellular environment to influence the behavior of nearby cells. Unlike endocrine signaling (which acts at a distance via circulation), paracrine factors act locally, often mediating tissue development, immune responses, vascular tone, and repair processes. Canonical families of paracrine factors include fibroblast growth factors (FGFs), epidermal growth factors (EGFs), Hedgehog proteins, Wnts, TGF-β family members, nitric oxide, eicosanoids, and various cytokines[1][5][6][7]. Paracrine factor release underlies many physiological and pathological processes, but it is not itself a discrete molecular target.
