Overview

The Renal cell carcinoma-associated cell surface antigen recognized by DAL K29 is a high-molecular-weight glycoprotein (118 kDa and 150 kDa) primarily expressed on the surface of human renal cell carcinoma (RCC) cells and normal renal glomerular capillaries. It was first identified using the mouse monoclonal antibody DAL K29, which was generated by immunizing mice with the Caki-1 RCC cell line. The antigen is considered a differentiation marker for the kidney and is found in the majority of RCC cases, while its expression in normal tissues is restricted to the glomeruli, prostatic glandular epithelium, and the basal layer of the epidermis. Due to its high expression in tumors and its ability to internalize upon antibody binding, it has been extensively studied as a target for site-specific drug delivery. Experimental therapies have utilized DAL K29-methotrexate conjugates and immunoliposomes to achieve potent tumor growth inhibition in xenograft models. Additionally, bispecific antibodies incorporating DAL K29 have been developed to redirect T-cell cytotoxicity against RCC cells.
