Overview

The renal proximal tubule is a key segment of the nephron in the kidney, beginning at the renal pole of Bowman's capsule and extending to the start of the loop of Henle. It plays a central role in reabsorbing essential substances from the glomerular filtrate and maintaining homeostasis. Dysfunction or damage can lead to Fanconi syndrome or contribute to acute kidney injury.
