Overview

Reproductive endocrine regulation refers to the physiological coordination of reproductive hormones by the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis. This includes the release of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) from the hypothalamus, which acts on the anterior pituitary to release luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). LH and FSH stimulate gonadal hormone production, driving ovulation, spermatogenesis, and sex steroid synthesis, thus regulating puberty, the menstrual cycle, sexual function, and fertility[1][2][3][5]. This term encompasses numerous molecular targets (such as GnRH receptor, estrogen receptor, LH receptor) but is itself not a discrete molecule or druggable entity.
