Overview

RERE antisense RNA 1 (RERE-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed from the antisense DNA strand overlapping the RERE gene. As a member of the natural antisense transcript (NAT) family, RERE-AS1 likely regulates gene expression through mechanisms such as transcriptional interference, chromatin modification, and post-transcriptional RNA interactions[1][2]. Like other antisense RNAs, RERE-AS1 potentially modulates the expression of its sense counterpart gene, RERE, with possible roles in epigenetic regulation and disease pathogenesis, especially cancer. However, direct experimental evidence and deep functional annotation for RERE-AS1 are currently lacking.
