Retinoic Acid Receptor (RAR)

Target
RAR
Molecular classification
Nuclear receptor, Transcription factor
01

Overview

The retinoic acid receptor (RAR) is a nuclear receptor that functions as a ligand-activated transcription factor. It is activated by retinoic acid and regulates gene expression in development, cell growth, differentiation, and various physiological processes. RARs heterodimerize with RXRs and bind to RAREs to control transcription. They are important drug targets in cancer and metabolic diseases.
