Retinoic acid receptor gamma (RAR-γ)

Target
RAR-γ
Molecular classification
Nuclear hormone receptor, Transcription factor, Receptor
01

Overview

Retinoic acid receptor gamma (RAR-γ), also known as NR1B3, is a member of the nuclear receptor superfamily. It functions as a ligand-dependent transcription factor, regulating gene expression by forming heterodimers with RXRs and binding to RAREs. RAR-γ plays critical roles in development, skeletal growth, cell differentiation, and other biological processes. It is a therapeutic target for conditions like acne, and mutations/rearrangements are associated with certain leukemias.
