Retinoic acid receptor responder 2 pseudogene 2 (RARRES2P2) is a human pseudogene with sequence similarity to the functional RARRES2 gene. Pseudogenes resemble functional genes but usually contain disabling mutations such as premature stop codons or frameshifts that prevent them from producing functional proteins[6]. RARRES2P2 does not encode an active protein and is not known to have independent biological or disease-related roles. In general, pseudogenes can sometimes regulate gene expression by acting as decoys or competitors for regulatory RNAs, but no specific function has been attributed to RARRES2P2. It is listed in genomic databases solely as a pseudogene, and there are no known interacting drugs or therapeutic applications[5][7][6].
