Retinoic acid receptor responder 2 pseudogene 3 (RARRES2P3) is classified as a processed pseudogene, meaning it originated from retrotransposition of mRNA rather than conventional gene duplication. Its sequence is similar to RARRES2, but evidence does not support that it codes for a protein or has established biological function. Like many human pseudogenes, RARRES2P3 may be transcribed; however, there is no documentation of it being involved in gene regulation, disease, or therapeutic mechanisms[5][2][1]. Pseudogenes overall can contribute to regulatory networks and sometimes impact disease, but RARRES2P3 specifically has not been implicated in such roles. No drugs or biomarkers are associated with this pseudogene, and it is not a valid therapeutic target. Misidentification or confusion with RARRES2 (Retinoic acid receptor responder 2) should be avoided, as only RARRES2 is functionally characterized and is associated with biological processes such as adipogenesis, inflammation, and metabolism[4].
