Retinoid X receptor beta

Molecular classification
Nuclear receptor, Transcription factor
01

Overview

Retinoid X receptor beta (RXR-β) is a member of the retinoid X receptor family of nuclear receptors. It forms heterodimers with other nuclear receptors, such as RARs, PPARs, VDR and TRs and regulates gene transcription upon binding to specific DNA response elements. The primary endogenous ligand is 9-cis-retinoic acid. RXR-β plays roles in energy metabolism, immune responses, development, and skin health. It is ubiquitously expressed. Variants or altered function/expression have been linked to granulomatosis with polyangiitis and vasculitis.
