RGL4 pseudogene 1 (RGL4P1) is a pseudogene related to the protein-coding gene Ral guanine nucleotide dissociation stimulator like 4 (RGL4). Unlike its parental gene, which encodes a guanine nucleotide exchange factor involved in Ras-Raf-MEK-ERK signaling[1], RGL4P1 is classified as a processed or unprocessed pseudogene and is not believed to code for a functional protein[2][3][5]. Pseudogenes can have regulatory roles at the RNA level—such as acting as antisense RNAs, small interfering RNAs, or competing endogenous RNAs (miRNA sponges)—but there is no direct evidence that RGL4P1 has such activity or disease relevance. In general, pseudogenes may influence biological processes by modulating the expression of their parental genes, but they are not conventionally considered drug targets or biomarkers[2][3][5]. There are no known drugs, mechanism-of-action data, or safety concerns associated with RGL4P1. If clinical or functional information about RGL4 pseudogene 1 is required, attention should instead be directed to the protein-coding RGL4 gene, which is involved in signaling pathways but is itself not a common direct therapeutic drug target[1].
