RGS2 antisense RNA 1 (RGS2-AS1), also known as LINC01032 or long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1032, is a human long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA). It is annotated as a non-protein-coding transcript located near or overlapping the RGS2 gene in antisense orientation. Like other lincRNAs and antisense RNAs, RGS2-AS1 is presumed to play roles in gene regulation, such as modulating expression of its neighboring sense gene(s) through epigenetic or transcriptional mechanisms. lincRNAs and antisense RNAs are increasingly recognized for their diverse molecular activities, including chromatin modification, RNA stabilization, transcriptional regulation, and potentially acting as molecular scaffolds for chromatin and RNA-binding proteins. However, the precise biological functions and any involvement in human disease for RGS2-AS1 specifically remain uncharacterized in published literature as of the search date. No approved or investigational drugs are known to specifically target RGS2-AS1, nor is it an established biomarker for disease or therapy response at this time.
