Rho-associated coiled-coil containing protein kinase 1 (ROCK1) is a serine/threonine kinase and a major downstream effector of the small GTPase RhoA. It plays a central role in regulating the actin cytoskeleton, cell shape, motility, contraction, proliferation, apoptosis, and other cellular processes. Overexpression or dysregulation of ROCK1 has been linked to various diseases, including glaucoma, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and inflammatory conditions. ROCK inhibitors are under investigation as potential therapeutic agents.
