Rho guanine nucleotide exchange factor 33 (ARHGEF33)

Target
ARHGEF33
Molecular classification
Guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF), Enzyme, Rho GTPase activator
01

Overview

Rho guanine nucleotide exchange factor 33 (ARHGEF33) is a member of the RhoGEF protein family, serving as a GEF that activates Rho GTPases such as RhoA by catalyzing the exchange of GDP for GTP. This activation modulates cytoskeletal dynamics, cell shape, migration, and contraction. ARHGEF33 shows prominent expression in Müller glial cells in the developing retina and appears to regulate cell morphology and migration through small GTPase signaling. Although no drugs directly target ARHGEF33, the broader family is implicated in pathways relevant to cell signaling and disease, and ARHGEF33 is considered a candidate for studying cellular processes involving cytoskeletal remodeling.
