Overview

Rho guanine nucleotide exchange factor 39 (ARHGEF39) is a member of the Rho guanine nucleotide exchange factor (RhoGEF) family, which regulate the activation of small Rho GTPases, central players in cytoskeletal dynamics and cell signaling. ARHGEF39 specifically activates the Rho GTPase RHOA, leading to cytoskeletal rearrangement. It is highly expressed in proliferating neural progenitor cells and is associated with cell division and neurogenesis in the developing brain. Functional polymorphisms in ARHGEF39 have been linked to susceptibility to developmental language disorder and may have roles in other neurodevelopmental and psychiatric conditions. Although it is not a validated therapeutic target, its role in cell proliferation and neural development make it of scientific interest for disease mechanisms, especially in neurodevelopmental disorders and potentially cancer. No known drugs directly target ARHGEF39, and its therapeutic potential and risk profile remain uncharacterized[1][2].
