Rho-related GTP-binding protein RhoU (RHOU) is a member of the Rho family of small GTPases, which are pivotal regulators of the actin cytoskeleton, cell morphology, and motility. RHOU interacts with effector proteins to regulate the assembly of focal adhesions and cytoskeleton remodeling during cell migration. It is capable of activating downstream kinases, such as PAK1 and JNK1, and inducing filopodium formation, stress fiber dissolution, and changes in cellular adhesion.
