RibN Riboflavin Transporter (RibN)

Target
RibN
Molecular classification
Transporter, Membrane protein, EamA domain protein
01

Overview

RibN is a bacterial riboflavin transporter belonging to the alpha-like protein family. It contains two EamA domains and is responsible for the uptake of riboflavin (vitamin B2) into bacterial cells. RibN is essential for bacterial physiology, particularly in symbiotic interactions with plants, where it facilitates efficient nodule occupancy and nitrogen fixation. Its expression is regulated by environmental riboflavin levels via an FMN riboswitch.
