The ribonuclease H1 pseudogene is a genomic sequence similar to the functional ribonuclease H1 gene, which encodes an endonuclease that degrades RNA in RNA-DNA hybrids and is essential for DNA replication and repair[1][2][4]. Several RNASEH1-related pseudogenes exist in the human genome, notably on chromosomes 2, 17, and 1[2][4]. These pseudogenes do not code for functional proteins and are not considered therapeutic targets. While some pseudogenes may have regulatory roles at the RNA level, such activity is context- and gene-specific and not well-established for the RNASEH1 pseudogene[3]. Thus, this locus does not have the molecular, biological, or therapeutic properties typical of drug targets.
