Ribonuclease P protein subunit p14 (RPP14) is a protein component of the human ribonuclease P and ribonuclease MRP ribonucleoprotein complexes, which are responsible for the maturation of tRNA and other small RNAs. Specifically, RPP14 forms a complex with its partner OIP2 to provide 3′→5′ exoribonuclease activity, which is essential for processing the 3' termini of precursor tRNAs, ensuring proper and accurate tRNA biogenesis and gene expression. The biological activity of RPP14 resides in its enzymatic function as part of the larger RNase P/MRP complex, rather than as a druggable therapeutic target. There are currently no known drugs targeting this subunit, and it is not established as a biomarker or therapeutic target in human disease, but it plays a critical housekeeping role in RNA metabolism[1][2].
