Ribonuclease P protein subunit p30 (RPP30) is a highly conserved protein encoded by the RPP30 gene on chromosome 10, which functions as a key subunit in both the ribonuclease P (RNase P) and ribonuclease MRP (RMRP) ribonucleoprotein complexes. These complexes play critical roles in the maturation and processing of precursor tRNA and rRNA molecules by catalyzing the removal of 5'-leader sequences from pre-tRNA and by participating in rRNA processing activities. While RPP30 serves as an essential housekeeping gene widely expressed across species, it is not a receptor, drug target, or transporter, and acts primarily in fundamental RNA biogenesis. Due to its stable and ubiquitous expression, RPP30 is extensively employed as an internal reference gene in molecular diagnostic assays and gene expression studies. Mild disease associations exist for RPP30, notably in cancer biomarker research and rare inherited disorders, but no drugs specifically target this protein[1][2][3][6].
