Target intelligence / Profile preview

Ribonucleotide reductase catalytic subunit M1 (RRM1)

Target
RRM1
Molecular classification
Enzyme
01

Overview

RRM1 encodes the large, catalytic subunit of ribonucleotide reductase (RR), an essential enzyme for DNA synthesis. This enzyme catalyzes the conversion of ribonucleotides to deoxyribonucleotides, providing the precursors required for DNA replication and repair. The activity of RR is crucial during the S phase of dividing cells when DNA synthesis occurs. Alterations or dysregulation in this gene or its chromosomal region have been linked with various cancers and Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome.
