Ribonucleotide reductase M2 polypeptide pseudogene 3 (RRM2P3) is a human pseudogene. Unlike protein-coding genes, pseudogenes like RRM2P3 are nonfunctional DNA segments that closely resemble known protein-coding genes, in this case, the ribonucleotide reductase M2 subunit gene (RRM2). Pseudogenes typically do not encode functional proteins and have lost their original protein-coding ability due to disabling mutations such as frameshifts or premature stop codons. RRM2P3 does not produce an active protein and is not known to play a role in established biological pathways or diseases. It is labeled as a pseudogene in reputable databases and genomic resources. Pseudogenes, by definition, are generally not therapeutically actionable targets because they do not produce functional protein products. For this reason, RRM2P3 should not be considered a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, transporter, or similar drug target class, and no interacting drugs or mechanisms of action are applicable. The real enzymatic target is the functional ribonucleotide reductase M2 subunit, encoded by the RRM2 gene, not RRM2P3. There is nothing to indicate that RRM2P3 is involved in signal transduction, cell cycle control, cancer, or other biological/disease roles—it simply exists as a nonfunctional genetic remnant.
