Ribosomal protein L10-like pseudogene (ENSG00000234624) is a nonfunctional segment of DNA that shows similarity to the functional ribosomal protein L10-like (RPL10L) gene, but is unable to encode a functional protein product. Pseudogenes such as this arise through gene duplication or retrotransposition and accumulate mutations that prevent normal expression or function. While some pseudogenes can play regulatory roles or be transcribed, there is no current evidence that this specific pseudogene has any functional or disease-related significance. It is not recognized as a biological drug target, biomarker, or as having any direct therapeutic relevance.
