Overview

RPL10P2 (Ribosomal protein L10 pseudogene 2) is a pseudogene in humans. Although it shares sequence similarity with the functional ribosomal protein L10 gene (RPL10), RPL10P2 does not encode a functional protein and is not known to have any direct biological function[1][3]. Pseudogenes are genetic sequences resembling genes but generally lack coding potential due to mutations or absence of regulatory elements required for expression. RPL10P2 is therefore not a therapeutic target, nor is it implicated as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other conventional druggable molecular class. No validated roles in disease, drug interactions, or biomarker utility are reported for RPL10P2[1][3].\n\nRPL10P2 is sometimes confused with its functional counterpart RPL10, but only the latter encodes the genuine ribosomal protein L10, which is an essential component of the ribosomal large subunit and has established roles in translation and disease[4][7]. Multiple aliases, including RPL10p and bA209A2.1, refer to the pseudogene but do not denote a functional gene product[1][3].
