Target intelligence / Profile preview
Ribosomal protein L11 pseudogene 3 (RPL11P3) is a processed pseudogene related to the ribosomal protein L11 gene (RPL11). Pseudogenes are nonfunctional sequences in the genome formed by duplication or retrotransposition from functional genes. Unlike its parent gene, RPL11, which encodes a structural component of the 60S ribosomal subunit and has well-characterized biological functions and disease associations (such as Diamond-Blackfan anemia), RPL11P3 does not produce a functional protein and has no confirmed biological or therapeutic role. While some pseudogenes have regulatory activity or are transcribed as noncoding RNAs, there is no reported evidence that RPL11P3 plays such a role. It primarily serves as a genomic fossil and is studied mainly in comparative genomics and evolutionary biology. Key differences: - RPL11P3 (the pseudogene) should not be confused with RPL11, the ribosomal protein, which is essential for ribosome function and has medically relevant roles. - The presence of RPL11P3 in the genome does not confer any known disease risks or drug interactions. Summary: RPL11P3 is a nonfunctional pseudogene derived from the ribosomal protein L11 gene. It is not a drug target and has no clinical, biomarker, or disease relevance in current biomedical literature.
