Current data do not associate RPL12P16 with any drug interactions, disease pathogenesis, or clinical biomarker use[5][10]. RPL12P16 is listed as a distinct genomic locus and has an official symbol, according to the HUGO Gene Nomenclature Committee[8]. There is no evidence this pseudogene produces a functional protein, nor is it currently considered druggable or directly actionable in disease[5][10]. Like many ribosomal protein pseudogenes, RPL12P16 may be transcribed, but its transcripts are not known to be translated or confer function[10].
