Target intelligence / Profile preview
Ribosomal protein L12 pseudogene 20 (RPL12P20) is one of many processed pseudogenes derived from the RPL12 gene family in humans. Unlike the functional RPL12 gene, which encodes a component of the 60S ribosomal subunit involved in protein synthesis, RPL12P20 is a non-functional genetic element that does not produce a protein product or contribute to ribosome structure or function. Pseudogenes like RPL12P20 are widely distributed throughout the genome as remnants of evolutionary genomic duplication events and generally have no known biological or therapeutic roles.
